LISA AND DOUG
Here we are on a hike about to cross what I assume is the Nisqually River. The actual location escapes me.
CROSSING A LOG BRIDGE
We were both pretty amazed at the ingenuity in creating a natural-looking bridge out of a fallen tree. Much later, when I went to work on the trail crew at Acadia National Park in Maine, I would create similar structures called bogwalks, which lay across boggy areas instead of spanning rivers. I could've built one of these, though. Same principle involved.
This is my co-worker Brenda's little boy, whose name I can't remember. Cute little guy, though, trying to lift up all my gear. Notice that I have my daypack attached to my backpack. What the hell was I thinking?
