THE JACKSON VISITOR CENTER
This is a stock photo of JVC, as I can't seem to locate even one that I took of it, and I know I did. We used to call the place The Mother Ship, as it looks like a UFO that has landed. Unfortunately, due to significant architectural problems, the National Park Service replaced the Jackson Visitor Center in 2008 with a more traditional design. The roof of the original structure was not designed to handle the overwhelming amounts of snowfall in the Paradise area each winter, which required the consumption of 300 to 500 gallons of diesel fuel per day during the snow season to melt snow and prevent the roof from collapsing. Too bad, as it was such a unique structure.
